During the last few years, PoF has emerged in critical applications e.g. current measurement systems in HVDC energy transmission and distribution lines.

A Power over Fiber (PoF) system consists of a high-power infrared Laser, a glass fiber and an optical converter. During the last few years, PoF has emerged in critical applications e.g. current measurement systems in HVDC energy transmission and distribution lines. In this recording we explain how Power over Fiber works and outline its benefits in different areas of power electronics. We also demonstrate which applications can be addressed with higher output power levels and increased efficiency.
