Renewable energy power stations are frequently derided for their detrimental effects on the environment and surrounding local communities. Large-scale wind farms and solar plants have been much maligned for displacing wildlife from natural habitats and taking over land that was previously used for agricultural purposes.

However, renewable energy also has the potential to revitalize economies and rejuvenate ecosystems. The Talatan PV Power Station in Gonghe County, China, is a prime example of the many economic and environmental benefits that renewable energy can provide. This massive solar park has created numerous job opportunities for local people and reversed the desertification of grasslands in the area.
